Simply Hand Made is a key historical structure on North Mill Street in Fredericksburg that was carefully converted to a gift shop in 2016. It has reopened for…
Do you have an extra minute online today? Can you help us get nominated for The Daily Record’s 2019 Best of the Best Contest? We are trying to get the word out about our little shop and we could use your help!
Once a day through February 10th you can go to https://www.the-daily-record.com/contests to nominate Simply Hand Made in the Shopping -> Gift Shop category. Support other businesses you love while you are there! We would love to get to the voting round to help spread the word about what we are doing here in Fredericksburg to help local artists as well as the Fredericksburg Community Library! Thank you so much!
As we reopen this winter, it seems like a good time to go over our closing policy for when the weather gets bad! We want to be open as much as possible, but our volunteers already give so much by giving their time- we don’t want anyone to feel pressured to keep the shop open on days when the cold, snow, and ice make it difficult to drive. And it doesn’t seem likely that as many customers will want to be out on those days either!
As we are located within the Southeast Local School District, if Southeast is closed, we will be closed too. Additionally, if there is a winter driving advisory we will be closed. We will try to keep the most up to date information about our hours on our Facebook and Instagram pages in the most recent post.
Through February and March, our winter hours will be Thursday-Saturday, 9:30-4:00. Now cross your fingers that the worst of the weather stays away from the days we are open!
It is always quite the jigsaw puzzle when we are rearranging the store, but now we can’t wait to reopen for a brand new year at Simply Hand Made! Don’t worry – everything is back together now, and hopefully better than ever!
Last January we tried to remain open, but the weather was so uncooperative we decided it was more beneficial to stay closed for this month and give all of our hardworking volunteers a break! We will be rearranging and refreshing the shop during this period, so when we reopen January 31st the store should have a bit of a new look for a new year! Our open time for the remainder of the winter through March will be pushed back a half hour, from 9:00 to 9:30 instead, to give those snow plows a little more time to work when needed!
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Simply Hand Made! We are thankful for so many things, and topping the list are our wonderful volunteers who make it all possible! They are staying home to enjoy time with family tomorrow, so we will be closed Black Friday, but we will be open our regular hours this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We hope to see you for Shop Small Saturday! Come find a unique, hand made gift and support the local community by shopping at small businesses!
